By the mid-nineties we had the World Wide Web, which gave us a standard way to publish web pages using HTML. Since 2006 I have been lamenting what I see as “the Facebook problem&# – they are trying to lump me into one big social network. At the bottom end of the stack is storage (S3) and processing (EC2).
