Santa Monica- and Mexico-based Flyr , a startup developing video advertising templates specifically designed for the iPhone and iPad, says it has upped its funding to $6M in total for the company. Flyr said its software and products democratizes production of TV-quality advertisement for iPhone and iPad users worldwide.

According to the firm, its new product--Mobile COntent Optimizer--helps advertisers create mobile-friendly web sites. The firm said the software can take an advertiser's existing website content, and place it into a template for all major mobile devices, including the BlackBerry and Apple iPhone.

Irvine-based Specific Media said this morning that it has launched a new ad platform, which it says will simplify management and delivery of advertising. Apparently, the new program is being used by American Airlines in a current advertising effort to reach holiday travelers. READ MORE>>

I've been President of my marketing, branding, creative and advertising firm for, yikes, 30 years. I was on the way back to LA from a ski vacation in Switzerland where I decided while sliding down a glacier that if I survived I would start my own advertising agency. Clients use our templates for things like sales sheets.

I started as a sole proprietorship, used templates for business plans, and spent the last two years just trying to figure out what monetization means. It gives them preferential placement, but this is not an advertising model, because we do not guarantee them placement. But, I felt that pull of starting a company.
