Los Angeles-based online invitation site Evite , which i owned by Liberty Interactive, has hired on former Amgen IT director Perry Evoniuk. According to Evite, it has named Evoniuk as the company''s Chief Technology Officer, to oversee the company''s technology strategy, software engineering and enterprise architecture.

Los Angeles-based MySpace Music announced this morning that it has hired Dmitry Shapiro , who founded Veoh, as its new Chief Technology Officer. Shapiro had raised over $70M in funding for Veoh, until legal battles and the economy sunk the online video sharing site. Shapiro also served as founder of Akonix Systems. READ MORE>>.

I’m seeing and hearing that it’s becoming tough finding good developers again, at least here in Los Angeles. On Friday, at the LA CTO Forum , I heard from a couple of CTOs having trouble finding good developers. I don’t have specific suggestions for people you can hire. One recruiter tells me it’s “like 1999?

Bitvore is based in Irvine, and is backed by serial entrepreneur Yuri Pikover, as well as other angels. I was hired to head up strategy, marketing development, and product management. One of the folks was the CTO of an investment bank in New York, who immediately saw what we did, and said he had a problem he wanted us to approach.

I founded that with the former CTO of my first company, Kevin Smilak, who now works at Google. We worked on all kinds of projects, including an online auction site for real estate, kiosks for airports, and music. We were hired by a company that did outsourced medical billing and consulting for physicial medicine and rehab doctors.

We initially hired him as our in-house recruiter. Tim did such a great job of hiring the best, brightest people so quickly that our company infrastructure wasn’t keeping up. Our IT group was not able to support all of the new people we hired. As CTO, it was my job to solve this problem. Tim was my right arm at L90.
