In Calacanis' personal blog, he called for bloggers to launch a public campaign against Keiretsu.

A personal campaign by Santa Monica-based Mahalo.com 's CEO, Jason Calacanis, to put pressure on for-profit angel investment firms to stop charging entrepreneurs to pitch, has ramped up, as Calacanis said Tuesday that he has been informed that Keiretsu Forum is filing a lawsuit against him.

The Tech Coast Angels has backed the maker of a medical device to help people with severe disabilities to walk. Both the Tech Coast Angels , Southern California's largest organized angel investment group, as well as San Diego's Rady Venture Fund are part of a $16M funding round for Savara. According to the Tech Coast Angels , it contributed $3M to the funding, the largest single funding ever raised by the group.

Los Angeles-based Draper Goren Holm , a new venture capital fund founded by Tim Draper, Alon Goren, and Josef Holm, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $25M in its very first fund. According to the firm, its Fund 1 will make seed and Series A investments in the fintech and blockchain startup world.

A new startup incubator and coworking space in the Los Angeles area-- Voivoda Labs --said this week that it is looking to looking to vet new startups in the area to join its newly built incubator in Glendale. Seattle-based startup Earth Class Mail has landed in Los Angeles, saying Monday that the firm has opened up shop on Santa Monica Boulevard for the firm's Internet mail service. According to Earth Class Mail, the new Los Angeles retail location will also provide onsite package pickup and shipping services.

As an angel investor, I believe this approach is a waste of time, since no honest investor is likely to seriously consider a request for money from a stranger. In all cases, due diligence is recommended on every potential investor and angel group before spending money you don’t have, looking for money you need.
