The 17-year old firm, which also said it will open up a brand new home at the center of Silicon Beach, signing a 10-year lease for a space on 7th Street in SantaMonica. GRP has been quite active in the local technology industry, having founded accelerator LaunchpadLA.
In his blog he says, “I responded that I thought it was stupid. Idealab, led by Bill Gross, who founded Overture, CitySearch and MANY other business [Pasadena]. I guess SantaMonica is officially “Silicon Beach” in the local people’s minds. My views are pretty well known. I hate Silicon Whatever.
A move to more urban environments (SF over SV, Cambridge over Waltham, London over Thames Valley, SantaMonica / Venice, Flatiron and so forth) as basically young people want to live where young people want to live. Val and I started this single’s website/blog just for fun and on the side. It was Citysearch for women to find guys. We started out with our first event at South Bar (in SantaMonica) with about 30 people in attendance. This month we’re doing a holiday party at the 31Ten Lounge (in SantaMonica).
