Nirvanix said Russell hails from NextEngine, where he was vice president of technology. Before that, Nirvanix noted, he was chief technology officer and a general manager for DivX Inc. Its backers include Intel Capital, Valhalla Partners, Mission Ventures, Windward Ventures and the European Founders Fund.
