The school said the new center will house its new integrated sciences program, and will be named the Robert Day Sciences Center, honoring Claremont McKenna alumnus and trustee, and W.M. Claremeont McKenna College says it has received $40M for a new sciences center, from the W.M. Keck Foundation. The new center will be 120,000 square feet.
The funding came from Coinstar and Claremont Creek, along with venture debt from Silicon Valley Bank. Randy Hawks of Claremont Creek, and Gary Cohen, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Customer Experience at Redbox, join the firm's board as part of the funding. in funding in a combination of its Series A funding and venture debt.
The firm was part of the EvoNexus incubator, and is venture backed by Claremont Creek Ventures, Coinstar, and Tao Venture Capital Partners. Of course, there's a lot of concentration in LA along Siliocon Beach, but there are great things in Pasadena, Claremont, Downtown, and the Valley. There are so many different pockets of interesting companies, and different vertical that are strong in LA. It feels more spread out to me than it is in San Francisco.
