Spearheaded by Alex Donn , the event was designed for both technical and non-technical attendees to build apps over the course of a weekend at Io/La , an incubator/co-work space in the heart of Hollywood. Kudos to the rockstar developers and designer in my team. We ended up earning 1 st place for using AT&T Cloud Architect.

SXSW Startup Night 2018 is one of the “must attend” events at SXSW and it’s a celebration of inclusion, entrepreneurial ecosystems and startups. The event is open to tech enthusiasts who want to join an event filled with some of the top leaders, investors and mentors from tech industry to network, find mentors and build their companies.

SMASHD’s first Cohort brought four early-stage + one mature company into the fold: Sidestep : Mobile platform for live events that allows fans to order merchandise before, during and after an event for VIP pickup and delivery, who has relationships in place with Ticketmaster, and is a merch partner on Beyonce’s latest tour.

Entrepreneurship : Through working with their mentors, each team acted as a startup, conducting market research for their pitch presentations. User-Centered Design : Not only did they develop and program what they could, they also worked as a group to determine the design and user-experience aspects of their mobile apps.
