Looking to tap into the developer community, Santa Monica-based car information site Edmunds.com said today that it has opened up a new application programming interface (API), which will allow software developers to access its full database of new car and used car specification and pricing.

TrueCar said that Damon Cleckler has joined the firm in the position, after serving as executive director of product management at Edmunds.com, where he helped develops Edmunds "True Market Value" and "New Car Finder" products. The company said Cleckler will work on aiding in development of car pricing tools on the site.

Santa Monica-based Edmunds.com reported today that it is in a new, data sharing agreement with the developer of a dealership inventory management and marketing tool, Nexteppe.
