What I want to answer with this post (long though it may be) is: Why did Web 2.0 Social Networking in Web 2.0. It was: up-market, exclusive, urban, elite, aesthetically pleasing, ad-free and users were verified. At the bottom end of the stack is storage (S3) and processing (EC2). We all wanted intros.
