Waze , the Google-owned navigation app, apparently has turned a street in Echo Park into a nightmare, according to the LA Times' Steve Lopez. Apparently, Waze's algorithms have been increasingly diverting drivers onto the extremely steep street--particularly in rainstorms--resulting in a litany of pileups and accidents.

They think I live in Hollywood, but there's Santa Monica, Venice, Echo Park, Silverlake, there's a scene downtown, I can go for a walk in the hills, I can go take a walk on the beach, there is just so much going on. I try to tell my friends that all the time. It forces you to not have a myopic view of the world.
