Television celebrity Brooke Burke and Internet entrepreneur Lisa Rosenblatt said Monday that they have acquired ModernMom.com , an online site focused on mothers, and relaunched the site--powered in part by content from Demand Media, the online media firm headed by Rosenblatt's husband, Richard Rosenblatt. According to ModernMom.com, it will include "thousands" of articles and videos from Demand Studios, focused on the interests of mothers.

El Segundo-based out-of-home advertising firm Ripple TV said today that it has added two media executives to the firm's board of directors. Ripple, which is venture backed by Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Trinity Ventures, said that Scott Hagedorn of Omnicom Media Group agency PHD USA, and Jack Myers of Myers Publishing have both joined its board. John Fischer of DFJ, Tim McAdam of Trinity, and the firm's CEO, John McMenamin, are also on the company's board of directors.

Aliso Viejo-based Quest Software disclosed this morning that the firm is planning its own, e-discovery software, which it said it will launch in the third quarter of the year. E-discovery software is used by companies to store and manage documents and records in relation to legal actions. According to Quest, its e-Discovery Manager will help IT, HR, records managers, and legal investigations with collecting, reviewing, and exporting electronically stored information in-house.
Irvine-based biotechnology firm Spectrum Pharmaceuticals reports that it has won $4.3M in an arbitration over a dispute with Cell Therapeutics, over liabilities over joint venture expenses. According to the firm, $3.5M of the amount was ordered to be paid immediately to the firm from an escrow account, with an additional $776,454 to be paid from Cell Therapeutics by wire transfer.
Irvine-based RFaxis , a new semiconductor firm focused on RF chips, said yesterday that it has launched its first two products, a set of single-chip products for the Bluetooth, WLAN, MIMO, and Zigbee markets. According to RFaxis, the firm's chips replace conventional, multi-die front end modules with single-chip, single-die wireless capability. San Diego-based Maxwell Technologies reported Tuesday that it has sold approximately $17.6M in a common stock offering, underwritten by Roth Capital Partners. Oxnard-based CalAmp , a developer of wireless tracking products, announced today that it has partnered with automotive distributor MOC Product Company, to market GPS-based stolen vehicle recovery solutions to automotive dealers. Lake Forest-based disk drive maker Western Digital Corp. reported today that it has agreed to sell the assets of its media substrate manufacturing facility in Sarawak, Malaysia to Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. Los Angeles-based 60Frames , an online entertainment studio developing professionally produced, online content, has reportedly shut down , according to The Hollywood Reporter. 60Frames had raised $3.5M in funding in 2007, from Tudor Investment Corporation and the Pilot Group, and was apparently unable to raise a second round of financing. 60Frames had been incubated within the United Talent Agency and Spot Runner.
