A typical day starts with email, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Yammer checks/updates. However, as I read more about your focus, you are using these things in a slightly different way, i.e., not sure if SEO is as important. I recently posted about SEO for Startups. Is/was SEO important for MakeItWork? Great stuff!

The idea was right but the timing was early and required a pivot into being a software company. But ultimately great people drive the ideas and Highland Capital is proactive in reaching out to entrepreneurs even at early stages. Richard’s email address is public but it is hard to manage all the inbound cold emails.

Blogging is an important way to build an audience and also drive SEO traffic. The obvious starting point is to email a few friends and let them know you have a new blog. Don’t be overbearing – just an email saying, wanted to let you know about my new blog. It’s where you exchange ideas with other people.

We talked with Billy last week about the firm, and what it's trying to do: What's the whole idea behind Kijubi? The idea there, is you sift through brochures, and call them to see if they are still there, and then make a reservation. The idea was to have tent poles up in the most important leisure markets.

Be consistent is their application, and provide contact information for both phone and email access. Put yourself on the site. People buy from people.
