For the last week of the year, we're featuring the thoughts and reflections of some of the movers and shakers of Southern California's high tech community. We asked the same four questions of a variety of top technology entrepreneurs, investors, and others, to hear what they're thinking about, and are sharing it here over the next week.
It might look a little bit like StoryBots (www.storybots.com), the new kids educational and entertainment service just launched by JibJab (www.jibjab.com). For our ABC video series alone, we had people in Argentina, Italy, the UK, and here in house in Venice, and other places around the world, producing those videos.

But as LA as a tech community grew massively the percentage of our LA deals went from 15% to 50% from 1996 to 2010 and it has remained solid since then. And LA shifted to Santa Monica and Venice. But we do have great working spaces for our portfolio companies to entertain clients or hold board meetings or executive retreats.
The first-ever Silicon Beach Fest attracted more than 2,000 attendees from LA, San Francisco, San Diego, Santa Barbara, New York, Toronto, and London to celebrate LA startups and entertainment with panels, parties, pitch fests, hackathon, and beach games: volleyball, basketball and surfing lessons in Santa Monica and Venice on June 21-23, 2012.

This review is not a reflection on the talents and abilities of those who pour so many hours and dollars into their passion projects. Nor is this a review of the show's hosts, Tubefilter , NewTeeVee or the IAWTV.
