By now we all know that the largest part of the online spend has been SEM (search engine marketing) where people buy CPC (cost per click) links to display alongside the “organic&# search results in the search engine. I believe that many social networks confused this idea.

The only other ways to get discovered was to have good organic search results or to get covered by a major blog site. Experienced and serial entrepreneurs in the content management space. Couldn’t be helped. It seemed that the main discovery mechanism was the “blog roll&# that everybody kept. And covered we did.
