The company said it grew its customer base by approximately 80 percent year over year, adding such clients as Air New Zealand, Lamps Plus, thredUp, Automotive Internet Media, and others to its roster of customers. An earlier profile of Tealium in the Inc. 500 reported the company''s 2013 revenues were $12.5M.

We had to buy Oracle database licenses, UNIX servers, a Sun Solaris operating system, web servers, load balancers, EMC storage, disk mirrors for redundancy and had to commit to a year-long hosting agreement at places such as Exodus. It was driven by the introduction of open-source software, most notably what was called the LAMP stack.

The answer was yes, and we also saw that we could begin to play at web scale, be hosted in the cloud, be scalable in an extensive way. We then actually went to the leader, Amazon, and we're in the web services group. But, they were an HTML app on a LAMP stack. We said, in addition to being B2B, can we also do B2C?
