If you’re a Web-based startup, for example, show me how many unique visitors you think you can get in the beginning, and what you’re using for an estimated conversion rate (buyers to browsers). Part of those questions are around Startup Metrics. Give me granularity.
My initial conversations normally focus on the core of the business, important Startup Metrics , probably marketing strategy (ex. Normally the product is defined as a web site. What applications and web sites have you been using? Then I spend time in all sorts of other applications and web sites.
Once you build it, they will now ask you about the key metrics that they need proven in order to see if you really are a good investment. The real reason to build an MVP is to do early tests of key Startup Metrics for the business. " Once you have the metrics defined, it focuses your effort. To prove/disprove a hypothesis.

If you do build the MVP and show it to them, they will ask you about your metrics. They really want metrics, not a product. The real question you should be asking is "When I've built this product and show you the following metrics, would you invest?"

As automotive web sites go, there are lots of review and information sites giving you information about new and used cars, magazines and information sites for auto enthusiasts, and discussion sites and groups for all kinds of cars. I love cars--I grew up in SoCal, and my father was really into cars, and didn't have sons.
Most importantly - How will you and fellow bloggers keep these "conversations" going - without fatigue The answers to these questions will be collectively determined, but my guess is that the conversations will be around web, software, social media, online marketing, startups, business development, etc.
Fascinating that you are going against the trend of trying to make everything a web application. I'm working quite a bit with startups who are leveraging social media, but I'm finding it hard to predict success and metrics. And how can an early stage company think about social media relative to important startup metrics (see [link] )?
First, let me recommend reading a previous blog, called omg I’m just a startup, I can’t do those fancy metrics. Every web product ultimately has a bunch of user flows contained within it. Once you create a small list of these queries, then you can start to formalize the ideas into specific metrics that you track daily.
He is not a technical person, but is somewhat web savvy. And in the case of defining mobile/web/software, there is even more variability in terms of form and format. For example, if you are trying to determine viral coefficient (see Startup Metrics ), then the focus should be around those aspects of the MVP.
