Hawthorne-based SpaceX , the commercial rocket firm run by Elon Musk, has landed a contract to deliver a payload to the moon. According to a Pittsburgh-based aerospace startup, Astrobotic Technology , it has signed a contract with SpaceX to deliver a robotic payload to the moon on the SpaceX Falcon 9.

Hawthorne-based SpaceX , on the heels of the firm's successful launch of its Falcon 9 rocket, announced over the weekend that it has signed a contract with the National Space Organization (NSPO) to launch an Earth Observation Satellite, Formosat-5. Hawthorne, California-based SpaceX has just signed a deal to deliver two robot payloads to the moon for a small Japanese company, ispace , ispace said this morning.
