I did a presentation about the use of Social Media to a great group of people who mostly are different kinds of service professionals (attorneys, accountants, consultants, etc.). Over the past 12 months, I've had roughly 284,000 people come visit that site and get exposed to things I write. This is that post. Get to know them.

Los Angeles-based Lunch.com , the online social media and networking site run by J.R. Johnson, told its users today that it has unveiled a new, personal RSS feed feature to the site. According to Lunch.com, the new feed can be added to blogs, personal sites, or elsewhere to help users promote their content.

I also expanded the syndication of my articles to mainstream sites, such as TechCrunch, Inc. Exposure on these sites more than doubled my readership from 2011. Unfortuately, link-bait titles generate a disproporionate number of views on mainstream sites in which readers decide which articles to explore based solely on their titles.

StatusPeople notes on their site that their results are inexact, as their algorithm samples a portion of a Tweeter's followers and then extrapolates relative percentages across the entire data sample. Although one can imagine that the temptation to cheat is strong among handlers responsible for managing a celebrity's social media network.

They created a reason for their customers to aggregate on their site on a regular basis. They created inbound link juice on topics that drove more traffic to their site. A large number of readers on my site get it from Feedburner or newsletter feed. Much of my traffic is through referring websites and/or social media.

At first this was limited to news sites that concentrated on a segment of a community, like West Seattle, but the concept is now being applied to advertising and promotion sites, blogging sites, and even legal services sites. I predict that hyperlocal services sites will continue to emerge and flourish.
