I’m only writing about the product because I’m passionate about it. I was recently over at the Mahalo offices in Santa Monica and I noticed that they had a great big screen TV with Chartbeat displaying their traffic data. In fact, I’m surprised by how antiquated Google Analytics feels. Basically, it rocks!
So I thought I’d write a piece on how not to suck when you give a presentation. Nobody wants to read your text on a big screen. Don’t write sentences on them – only key words to help you remember what you’re going to say. If you write sentences you’ll read them and you’ll … suck.
Coincident has created a platform that will allow storytellers and producers to create robust second screen stories on the fly that incorporate video, images and other web content. What is coming is Internet-enabled televisions, content streaming with built-in social media interactions in real time and multiple screen activities.

Trying to save costs by seeking resumes on the Internet will result in poor quality candidates, more time required for screening and interviews, and high turnover. I recommend a thirty to ninety-day trial period, defined in writing, where either party can terminate the relationship without recourse.
I still think it’s best to take money from Dave when you’re also partnered with a more focused, hands-on seed-stage VC who brings different things to the table – like more ability to write larger checks in a downturn (for one) or solving a deep crisis that involves super hands-on involvement.
I was fortunate that I could write software and doubly fortunate that my despair at working for ‘the Man’ – and feeling compelled to strike out on my own – coincided with the dawn of the personal computer era. For me I had few alternatives; working for someone else had proved to be a frustrating experience.
