Adobe Buys UCLA Startup Auditude

Gevo, With Ties To Caltech and UCLA, Files For IPO

Gevo , a startup which is developing renewable chemicals and biofuels technology, has filed for an IPO, according to an S-1 filing by the firm Thursday afternoon. Gevo--which is now based in Englewood, Colorado--was started in Pasadena, and has licensed technology from both the University of California, Los Angeles, and Caltech.

A startup, Sparefoot , headed by two former UCLA students who founded the company out of their experiences at the school, said today that it is offering up a $5,000 scholarship to students who use its service. Sparefoot is venture backed by Silverton Partners, FLOODGATE, and Capital Factory, and is located in Austin, Texas.
