SoCalGas Deployes Bloom Energy Microgrids In LA

The two sites are at Monterey Park and Pico Rivera. SoCalGas says the use of fuel cells at its facility will reduce its carbon emissions by 683 metric tons per year compared to the current grid profile. The gas utility says, in addition to the two new fuel cell sytsems, it currently uses solar generation at 6 of its 113 facilities.

Kotura Bolsters Board

Monterey Park-based Kotura , which develops photonics semiconductors, has named a new member to its board of directors. The firm said that Brian Wong, President and CEO of Enervate, a developer of rechargeable energy storage technology, has joined the company's board. Wong also has served at D2Audio, Primarion, and Xerox.

Kotura Opens China Office

Monterey Park-based Kotura has opened up a new office in Shenzhen, China, the firm said Tuesday. According to the company, the new office will provide sales and marketing, manufacturing and R&D support to its customers in China. The new office will be headed by Yicheng Lu, who was most recently at JDSU.

Monterey Park-based Kotura , a developer of silicon photonics components, said this week that it has added a distrbutor covering Europe. The firm said it has signed AMS Technologies, a firm specializing in optoelectronics, thermal management and power electronics, as part of a pan-European distribution agreement.

Kotura Gets Win With Santur

Monterey Park-based Kotura , a developer of photonic components, disclosed this morning that the firm has been selected by tunable lasers firm Santur as a partner. Kotura said that Santur has partnered with the firm on a 100 Gb/s platform, and will be using Kotura's 10-channel optical multiplexer chips.
